An industry-endorsed pre-employment skillset for new entrants to the Mining and Resources Sector

As TMEC has started raising the profile of jobs in mining within schools, we’ve been receiving questions like “What skills should I be getting to increase my prospects?” or “Now what?”.

TMEC have consulted with all major mines to create a minimum entry requirement that is common across all TMEC member mines and we’re calling it the Tasmanian Mining Pathways Passport.

The main objective of the Tasmanian Mining Pathways Passport is to deliver an industry-endorsed pre-employment skillset for new entrants to the Mining and Resources Sector.

We pay our respects to the palawa and pakana, the original and enduring custodians of the land and waters upon which we work, live, and love: Trouwunna/Lutruwita (Tasmania). We respect their resilience over uncountable generations and acknowledge the wisdom of elders past, present, and emerging. As residents today, we are fortunate to see those traditions reestablished and share a deeper connection physically and spiritually with Country together.
