Tasmania Strongly Represented at National Awards
The finalists for the prestigious BHP 2020 Women in Resources National Awards have been announced, featuring 37 inspiring people across six categories including the inaugural Maptek Women in Resources Technological Innovation Award. Tasmania is well represented, with five highly skilled men and women working in the mining and minerals processing industry being recognised among the finalists.

Five outstanding men and women working in Tasmania’s resources, mining and manufacturing sectors have been recognised at the 2020 Women in Resources Tasmania Awards ceremony in Launceston on 30 July. The annual awards are coordinated by the Tasmanian Minerals, Manufacturing and Energy Council (TMEC) in conjunction with the AusIMM Women in Mining Network Tasmania (WIMnet) to create awareness of the inspirational women working in resources, mining and manufacturing and encourage other women to pursue careers in these Tasmanian industries.

Cleaning up the road to Grange’s Savage River site

TMEC Annual Report 2018-19
2019 saw us continue to build on our cumulative success from prior years, representing the minerals industry and further consolidating TMEC’s position as a peak body for Tasmania’s manufacturing sector. Consequently, the Board agreed it was time to reflect that positioning in our name and suggests moving from the Tasmanian Minerals & Energy Council to the Tasmanian Minerals, Manufacturing & Energy Council.
