Tasmanian Minerals Emergency Response Competition 2026
Hosted by Cornwall Coal at their Fingal Site
Date: Friday 16 and Saturday 17 October 2026.
Cement Australia, Cornwall Coal will host the 2026 Tasmanian Minerals Emergency Response Competition at their Fingal Site from Friday 16th and Saturday 17th October 2026
Collaboration and continuous improvement are central to TMEC, along with a strong commitment to safety across Tasmania’s mining, manufacturing and energy sectors.
Our annual emergency response competition allows teams to practise, strengthen Mutual Aid and demonstrate their preparedness to respond to major incidents or support local emergency services.
This year’s event carries particular significance as it marks the 20th anniversary of the Beaconsfield Mine disaster, a defining moment in Tasmania’s mining history. The lessons learned from the collaboration during the rescue continue to reinforce the importance of preparedness, capability and effective emergency response, ensuring every worker has the best chance of returning home safely.
Held at a different site each year, the event also supports local economies, bringing more than 100 people for two days of accommodation and catering.
Prepared. Ready. Together.
It’s not enough to know the theory. Safety needs to be second nature.
