Advanced Manufacturing

Advanced Manufacturing Accelerating Growth Program

The Advanced Manufacturing Accelerating Growth program is open for round three. 

Funding is available to Tasmanian-based advanced manufacturing enterprises to purchase capital equipment, linked to an off-island market-driven expansion opportunity with resulting increased employment. Grants will be provided on a co-contribution basis, with a value of up to $100 000. The program is competitively assessed based on the criteria in the guidelines.

Advanced Manufacturing Tender Incentive Program

Grants of up to 50 per cent contribution towards the cost of professional services to support the development of tenders for specialist procurements with a maximum grant of $40,000 (three tiers of support).

Advanced Manufacturing Business Improvement Program

Grants of up to 50 per cent contribution towards improving business sustainability, lean management, business, governance and succession reviews, with a maximum grant of $20,000.

Small Business Advice and Financial Guidance Program Round 2

This program aims to provide eligible small businesses with access to specialist financial services and/or business support to assist in business recovery, transition, growth, or application of other management strategies.

Eligible applicants will receive a grant of between $750 and $1,500 to obtain financial or business guidance services from a suitably qualified specialist/consultant.

Advanced Manufacturing Skill 2 Manufacturing Program 

Grants of up to 50 per cent contribution towards non-accredited training such as short courses, product or industry-specific training and safety awareness training, with a maximum grant of $15,000.

Advanced Manufacturing Quality Assurance Program 

Grants of up to 50 per cent contribution towards achieving quality assurance accreditations such as ISO9001 and HACCP.

Apprenticeships

New Apprenticeship Scholarship Program

Funding is available for commencing apprentices in North West Tasmania. This program will help post year 12 students with costs of their apprenticeship or traineeship in the Agriculture, Aquaculture & Forestry, Transport & Logistics and Health & Social Assistance industries.

The program provides grants of $2,000 for new workers.
The funding is intended to support individuals and the payment will go to apprentices to use at their discretion.
Applications can be made through Apprenticeship Network Providers at commencement. Further information and application form is available on the New Apprenticeship Scholarship Program webpage. Email the completed form to nasp@skills.tas.gov.au.

Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements

To assist with the recovery from the impact of COVID-19, the Australian Government is providing support to all eligible employers who engage a new Australian Apprentice or Trainee before the 30th June 2022. This support is called the Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements (BAC) Wage Subsidy.

There is no limit on the number of eligible apprentices and trainees your business can employ. We encourage you to reach out to your local Apprenticeship Network Provider.
Any business that engages an Australian Apprentice or Trainee between 5 October 2020 and 30 June 2022, may be eligible for a subsidy of 50% of the wages paid to this employee for a 12-month period. The 12 month period commences from the start date of training and is paid at a maximum of $7,000 per quarter (up to $28,000 over 12-months).

North West School-Based Apprenticeship Grant Program

Funding is available for employers in North West Tasmania to employ a school-based apprentice or trainee. This program will help employers identify a new generation of staff and provide senior school students with the opportunity to commence rewarding careers. The program provides grants of $2,500 to encourage local employers to find students interested to start a trade while they complete years 10, 11 and 12. Applications will be accepted from employers whose business operates in one of Tasmania’s identified growth industries. Interested employers should contact their Apprenticeship Network Providers (ANPs)  to help them assess eligibility and assist with the application. The program will support employers in the following sectors:

  • Information and Communications Technology
  • Building and Construction
  • Aged Services
  • Accommodation and Food Services
