Tassie’s Better with Balance Trans-TAS Challenge 2019

About
Tassie’s Better with Balance, Trans-Tasmania Challenge is a fundraising and awareness-raising endurance event that took place from Wednesday 13th November to Sunday 24th November 2019 in support of Diabetes Tasmania and the links to better mental health and wellbeing.
The Better with Balance theme demonstrates the importance of work-life balance and the value of not just physical health but also mental health. Staged across Tasmania, the event reinforces the successful balance of industry, environment and recreation and how they jointly contribute to the wellbeing of Tasmanian communities, as highlighted in the industry Blueprint for Mental Health and Wellbeing launched by TMEC in 2017.
Venue
Eleven Tasmanians trekked, cycled and kayaked through some of Tasmania’s most iconic, beautiful, productive and challenging landscapes. Participants set off on the challenge from the northwest coastal town of Penguin and finished at Cockle Creek at the southern tip of Tasmania. This journey took the participants along the Overland and South West Wilderness Tracks and featured five mountain climbs over 1200 meters including Tasmania’s highest mountain, Mt Ossa.
