Members’ Dinner – Thursday 5th November 2020
The TMEC Annual Members’ Dinner was hosted in the scenic Bayviews Restaurant, overlooking Burnie’s West Beach on Thursday the 5th November 2020. This event provided opportunities for members to network and mix with peers and industry representatives, as well as the chance to hear from our guest keynote speaker Layne Beachley AO, joining us from her home in NSW via Zoom.
We were pleased to be able to host 80 members and their guests at this dinner, and our members certainly took advantage of the opportunity to catch up with their friends and peers.
Layne’s “no bullsh*t” leadership style has helped her to blaze a trail for equality, in and out of the water. Standing firm in her values with a clear vision for the future, Layne lives a life of unapologetic honesty, humour and humility. A seven-time world champion. The only surfer in history to claim six consecutive world titles, 5 won in a state of fear, overcoming depression, self-doubt and self-sabotage. Layne shared her insights into leadership, resilience and role modelling woven through her own personal story.
The goodwill and camaraderie experienced during the dinner was absolutely first class and flowed over into the Member’s Forum the following morning. We have received overwhelmingly positive feedback on the dinner venue, meal and content delivered during the Member’s Forum.
