Tasmania’s industry association for minerals and manufacturing and energy intensive consumers (TMEC) has recently made changes to be better positioned for taking on the emerging challenges facing the sector.
The Chief Executive Officer, Ray Mostogl said, “The appointment last month of Vanessa Skipworth to the position of General Manager has bolstered the management team. Further to Vanessa’s appointment, three new Directors have been appointed to the Board.”
TMEC’s President, Ben Maynard went on to say, “The Board welcomes Kelly Elphinstone back to the Board bringing a wealth of manufacturing experience and welcomes Mari Rademeyer and Suzie Coughey who both have extensive experience in the resources sector.”
All sectors in Tasmania and interstate are facing challenges with skill shortages, unprecedented demand for more minerals to supply the insatiable needs of efforts to decarbonise, competition for land use, a desire for more critical goods to be manufactured in Australia, community acceptance all against a backdrop of increasing geopolitical instability.
Ray went on to say, “The diverse career and life experiences of these directors will add significant value to the Board which will create additional benefits for members and the sector. There is no doubt having a more diverse team will result in better quality decisions hence the recruitment which has been underway for 6 months has been a priority for TMEC. We continue to monitor our member businesses for further potential Director’s.”
